Summer Science School (SSS) is an international program for elementary school students organized by Petnica Science Center. The Summer Science School is a multidisciplinary seven-day program that introduces interested students to the basics of a research perspective on the world. SSS participants are directly engaged in theoretical, practical, and research activities in the fields of astronomy, biology, physics, electronics, chemistry, geology, history, archaeology, geography, mathematics, psychology, linguistics, computing, biomedicine, and other disciplines represented at Petnica. The program aims not to teach facts, practice tasks, or test knowledge, but to acquaint participants with the principles and basic methods of research as well as the scientific method in the broadest sense, and to encourage critical thinking and the development of a research spirit. Petnica is organizing the Summer Science School in English, for all interested students from Serbia, the region, Europe, and the world. Eligible to apply are students currently attending the 7th and 8th grades (13-15 years old) who show interest in additional education, science, and research work, as well as a high degree of independence and personal initiative. Candidates should be ready to separate from their parents and familiar environment, as well as to work and socialize with peers they have not had the opportunity to meet before.

The program will be held from 10th to 17th September in Petnica Science Center.

The application for SSS will be open until the 15th of August 2024.

Applications are made by registering and filling out the digital form , accompanied by signed parental consent.

The participation fee is 430 euros (50000 RSD). It includes accommodation, food, and all activities during the school.

The list of selected participants will be available on the Petnica SC website by the 20th of August, and participants will receive invitation letters with detailed instructions for attending the program at their registered email addresses.
